American-Style Rice

  • 1 cup(s) rice; uncooked
  • 2 cup(s) cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt

      Put rice, water, and salt in a 2-quart saucepan; cover with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to a vigorous boil then turn heat as low as possible. Continue to cook 14 minutes. Do not stir or lift cover. Turn off heat; allow rice to steam, covered, for 10 minutes more.

      Yield: 3 cups
